This continues to be a rapidly changing time in our lives and in the world of healthcare. Through it all, our highest priority is your safety and health and maintaining a safe clinic environment to meet your healthcare needs. To this end we have made a number of adjustments:
Enhanced cleaning/disinfecting- we are frequently wiping surfaces and equipment with disinfecting solution. Minimizing interpersonal contact and hand washing before and after all contact.
Safe distancing- we are taking measures to maintain at least 6 feet of separation whenever possible and spacing out in-person patient visits to minimize patient interaction and overlap.
Masks- we’re wearing masks for all in person visits and other close interaction. We ask that patients also wear face masks or covers whenever they come to the clinic.
Televisits- we have invested in a televisit platform which allows secure audio and video streaming from a smart phone or tablet. Just download the IMS app to your Droid or iPhone or tablet, and enroll in the IMS patient portal. Currently we can also do audio visits by telephone.
Given that the Coronavirus conditions will probably be with us for some time, we have to adapt our approach to meeting acute healthcare needs and preventative care goals. TeleVisits will be a significant part of this adaptation.
Contact us if you have any questions.
As you know, our community and our country is currently in the grip of the newly declared pandemic of the novel corona virus. This extremely fast-moving situation is causing lots of confusion and alarm.
A few points to consider:
People with chronic medical conditions are at highest risk and should practice social isolation and frequent hand cleaning and avoid touching the face. We ask people with fevers and illness to not come to the office but to call us ahead of time to make arrangements. Our practice has many patients who are at increased risk for complications if they become infected.
I want a test, can I come in for one?
The Center for Disease control and Alameda County Public Health Department have both published guidelines for testing especially due to limited access for testing. We are NOT testing in the office currently because we don’t have the equipment necessary to collect the test in the manner recommended. Also critically ill and hospitalized patients are top priority to receive the limited number of tests.
I’m sick now, what do I do?
Don’t come to the office, but do contact us to let us know. Stay home and isolate. You can rest, hydrate and take symptomatic medications as needed depending on your situation whether it’s a cold, or allergies or other condition. Serious symptoms include fever, shortness of breath, cough and body aches. It is also more serious if you have been exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID or under observation for COVID. If you have severe symptoms, you should go directly to the emergency room, but do call them ahead of time.
We are working on electronic visits and hope to have this service active as soon as possible.
I will try to keep you updated. Thank you and take care.
